Skryne GFC held one of the most successful fundraisers in the history of our club, with the ‘Win a Racehorse for a season’ draw. The grand finale of the fundraiser was held in Swans Pub last night in conjunction with our Cheltenham Preview night where Skryne GFC welcomed special guests local Racehorse Trainer Gavin Cromwell, David Jennings from the Racing Post, top jockeys Paul Carberry and Keith Donoghue, Ryan McCue from Paddy Power/BetFair with local racing expert and bookmaker Gavin Lynch chairing the panel who provided insights and tips on next week’s Cheltenham Festival.
Once all the budding punters in attendance had recorded all their ‘dead certs’ for next week’s races, it was time to get down to the business of the draw. Mick O’Dowd invited Frank Swan to spin the drum and pull out the winning tickets.
The lucky winners of the top prize of ‘A Racehorse for a season’ or €7,500 were JJ and Breda Lenehan from Skryne.
Second prize – €1,000: Baltray Golfers c/o Eddie Battersby
Third prize – €500: Roy Plunkett, Ashbourne
Fourth Prize – Fairyhouse Easter Festival Pass for 2 people: Sean Ryan, John Moran, Kevin Synan, Ter McGovern and Michael Donnelly from Dunboyne
Fifth Prize – Fairyhouse Easter Festival Pass for 2 people: Sheila Gill, Rochfortbridge
Skryne GFC would like to thank all who supported the fundraiser which will contribute to the building of our new club gym which is now well on it’s way to completion.
