Well done to our Development Committee who have been working hard to progress development in the club since our successful Tractor Draw last year. The following is a report from the Development Committee which outlines progress to date and future plans.
In advance of our Tractor Draw members outlined priorities for improvement works to our grounds. Phase 1 of the items identified is well underway. Following on from the removal of the leylandii trees and erection of a new wooden boundary fence, work has been concentrated on work elements that will ensure the long-term success of the project, in particular the provision of adequate ducting and drainage which will future proof for any modifications that may be needed. With the trees removed, we now have an area of about 4,000 sq. metres (approx. 1 acre) which will provide parking for over 100 cars. Extensive electric cable ducting works are underway which will allow for the installation of LED lighting for Walking Path around the pitch perimeter, Car Park lighting and enhanced lighting and signage at the entrance, and the future upgrade of the existing Main Pitch lighting to LED. Drainage works for the Car Parking area are also underway. The following works are in progress/completed:
- Installation of 350 m drainage runs with gullies etc
- Installation of 400 m of twin underground ducting for electric cables
The following works will be completed over the coming weeks:
- Ducting and drainage along Viewing Area
- Kerbing along the wooden fence and around to Clubhouse
- Footpath widening behind nearside goals
- Tarmacadam to be laid to the rear of goals and along the Viewing Area
- Car park marking
While we are dependent on the availability of specialist contractors, it is expected that the work under the current programme will be complete by end of May.
Other projects being planned are the provision of a new electronic scoreboard and an extension to the substitutes’ accommodation.
While we will attempt to minimise disruption it will be necessary to restrict access to various locations as work progresses. Your continued co-operation in using the facilities is appreciated.
