On a wet and windy evening Skryne U16’s played Dunboyne at home in the semi-final of the league. The weather conditions were not good, when the game started but the lads got stuck in straight away with Paddy Carpenter scoring the 1st point for Skryne. There were also points from James Finnerty, Frank Carty and Jason Reddy. Skryne forwards were playing well with great running and passing of the ball, linking up with players like Colm McLoughlin and Eoin Smyth.
When Dunboyne attacked, Skryne backs held strong with tight marking by Robbie Clark, Michael Long, Cian Twomey and David Carroll which held Dunboyne to 3 points in the 1st half. Score 0.5 – 0.3
The second half Skryne started to gain momentum with Darren Fox, Darragh Campion winning the ball in mid field and Eoin Smyth helping out. Dunboyne were playing a defensive game with 2 sweepers in their half of the field so it was proving difficult for the lads to score. but Skryne kept taking their points and eventually with a great pass from Frank Carty, Paddy Carpenter found the net. Dunboyne did not give up and hit the bar twice but with great defensive work by Fiachra Finnegan in goals and Michael Doherty and Dean Reddy also in the backs they held their opponents to 2 points in the second half.
The final score was 1-10 to 0-5. Well done to all the lads on a good team performance.
