By Underage PRO Tue 17th Apr

Skryne played host to the U8 and U10 blitzes this weekend, and it proved a very enjoyable day for all. Well done to everyone involved in organising the event, and a special thanks to the parents that helped out on the day.

Under 8 Blitz Report

Over 100 Under 8 footballers participated in the 2nd series of U8 blitz games hosted by Skryne on Saturday last.  Eleven U8 teams took part with Skryne, Seneschalstown and Walterstown having three teams each and neighbours Dunsany having two.

The games kicked off at 10.30am and Skryne Team 1 was first up against Dunsany 1.  The young Skryne lads were quickly into their stride and displayed their growing strength as a team. Further strong performances followed in their games against Seneschalstown and Walterstown.

Skryne Team 1: Luke O’Brien, Ben Armstrong, James Reeves, Billy Smith, Conor Ward, Andrew Nolan, Matthew Ryan, James Dardis, Louis Morris

The 2nd Skryne team played their first game against Dunsany 2, finding the Dunsany boys to be lively opponents. Further games for Skryne 2 saw them improve their game against teams from Walterstown and Seneschalstown.

Skryne Team 2: Mark Swan, Charlie Swan, Jack Molloy Brito, Jamie Mullen, Daniel O’Kane, Cillian Moss, Andrew Canavan, Ciaran Fox, Oran O’Rourke

The 3rd Skryne team played against Seneschalstown teams in their first two games.  Showing great skill and kicking some excellent scores the Skryne lads performed very well in both matches.  Their 3rd and final games were against Walterstown where they were evenly matched in a very entertaining and competitive game.

Skryne Team 3: John Finnerty, Ben Cherry, Jack Donnelly, Adam Dowling, Alex Schmeider, James Mangan, Mikey Daly, Josh Grendon, Ciaran Quinn.

A special thanks to the parents who helped out on the day and helped make it a great success.  The next series of U8 matches is scheduled for Dunsany in two weeks time.
