Skryne U10s wrapped up their participation in the 2013 Summerhill League on Saturday 21st September at the annual finals day hosted by Summerhill GFC. The finals day brings together all all of the teams that participated in the challenge for 2013. Our first game on the day was against neighbours Ratoath. Played in excellent sunshine in Summerhill the Skryne lads wasted no time in establishing control of the game. With Scott Armstrong, Jack Swan and Jack Donnelly doing very well in the back, and both Alex O’Reilly and Billy Reilly dominating midfield the forwards had plenty of scoring opportunity. Oisin Keogh, John Finnerty and Nathan Chawke kicked a number of scores. The dominance continued in the 2nd half with Shane O’Connor and Luke O’Brien playing very well in defence, Aaron Clarke, Cian Reddy and Mark Swan all added to the scoreline. At the end Skryne ran out convincing winners in a scoreline of 5-16 to 3-3
Our 2nd game of the day was against Enfield and was a much tighter contest. Despite dominating possession around midfield the Skryne lads were finding scores hard to come. Jack Swan and Luke O’Brien broke up a number of Enfield attacks and good use of the ball created chances for the Skryne forwards. Cian Reddy, Alex Curran and John Finnerty kicked points toward the end of the half and the lads held a narrow 4 point lead at held time. Aaron Murray was excellent in goals throughout both games and pulled of a number of fine saves. In the 2nd half Scott Armstrong continued to dominate at the back and was aided by Alex Schmeider and John O’Regan. Up front John Finnerty, Aaron Clarke, and Mark Swan all upped their game and added to the scoreline. A brace of goals from Oisin Keogh put Skryne in a strong position and despite a late couple of goals by Enfield Skryne ran out winners on a 6-14 to 6-6 score line.
