On Tuesday it was the turn of Skryne Div 5 team in the B League away to Clonard. This was a much closer affair for about 30 minutes. The match was barely a minute old when Brian Smith raced through to shoot to the back of the net for the opening score and while Clonard fought back well they could never overcome the concession of that opening goal. Skryne on the other hand kept knocking over points from Sean Cassidy, Brian Smith, Johnny Quinn and Conor Keogh. The score at the half time break was Skryne 1 – 4, Clonard 0 – 5. When the second half resumed it was Brian Smith who again opened the account with a fine point to restore the goal lead. Clonard countered with two points but further points from Smith, Cassidy, O’Rourke and Keogh saw Skryne run out winners on a score line of 1 – 11 to 0 – 8.
