The Boys U16’s played Rnd 4 of Div 1 of the Summer League and for the tournament have won Four of Four games. Wins against Trim, Ratoath, Summerhill and Duleek / Bellewstown means they are top of the table. This isnt without the hard work that is being put in by the Management and Players which is really paying off. The amount of movement & pace is a joy to watch.
Skryne played there Fourth fixture at home in Father Mc Manus Park and it was an ideal evening for a match. Conditions where perfect and the hot temperatures had dropped down. Skryne got off to a blistering start and played some great football. A long ball to Sean Keogh that was broken down went to the opposite side of the field for Duleek to get the first score of the game. Skryne really lifted themselves and moved forward on numerous attacks and put away some great scores and goals. There was super play up from with Sean Keogh, Kian Reddy, Niall Moreland, Billy Reilly, Niall Finnerty, Oisin Keogh, Nathan Chawke & Mark Swan. These bunch of lads should be proud of the work ethic they put in from start to finish, In midfield Alex Grendon and Shane Smyth both went from attack to defense while the defenders of Jack Swan, Kristoffer Kinsella, David Rathbourne, Sam Hawes, James Mangan & Gary Browne was sublime. Every ball the swept up and some of which they went forward and scored (Ask Buster). Duleek / Bellewstown as much as Skryne went at them they also went on the attack. A club that Skryne has many a tight game with were certainly not going home without a fight. Skryne overall had 13 scorers from a panel of 18 and this was all down to the lads playing for each other. We mentioned the movement but the lads are really playing some of the best football and when Gary Browne (Buster) comes down the right hand side of the field scores a point with the outside of the right boot from 40 yards out and over splits the post and goes over the top net and down to the Five Roads you know things are going your way. Every single player gave it everything and there was tired bodies after the game. Saying that there is nothing won yet and the lads just need to take it a game at a time and next up is Simonstown away. Well done to the players and management on a great win. Hard luck to Duleek but we have no doubt there will be plenty a tough games against each other again.
