Skryne GFC scoop first place in the Ceól Uirlise at Scór na nÓg
As the covid restrictions have now been lifted Counties are permitted by Croke Park to hold their respective Scór na nÓg competitions. Meath held ours in Summerhill Community Centre on 12 March. Despite the event clashing with a number of underage fixtures and with Covid still preventing some from taking part, the organisers stuck to their task and produced a very good show on the day.
Skryne were represented by two Ceól Uirlise groups and also Jay Jay Lynch who sang beautifully in the Solo Singing category. A big congratulations to the team of Tommy Tobin, Caoimhe Giles, Aisling O’Connor and Ellie Kate McDonnell who won first prize in the Ceól Uirlise competition. The group were missing Darragh O’Dowd who is hoping to return in time for the Leinster competition. They were presented with their medals by Meath ladies All Ireland winner Mary Kate Lynch.
Also, a special mention to Eve Geraghty and Eve Clarke who gave a flawless performance in the instrumental category of the Ceól Uirlise competition.
The complete list of winners were:
- Tráth na gCeist – Oldcastle GFC
- Ceilí Dancing – Oldcastle GFC
- Solo Singing – Sara Ní Chonaill, Clann na nGael GFC
- Recitation – Rian Mulvanny, Oldcastle GFC
- Ballad – Trim GFC
- Nuachleas – Oldcastle GFC
- Ceol Uirlise – Skryne GFC
These winners now go forward to represent Meath in the North Leinster competition in the Downs on 26 March. Skryne GFC want to wish their Ceól Uirlise group and their tutor Áine Kerr the very best in that competition.
