Skryne overcame Duleek/Bellewstown in a poor game to claim the points in this A League Div 1 match played in fair conditions in Skryne. The teams were evenly matched throughout with both employing defensive tactics resulting in a very close game. There was just a single point between the teams at half time – Skryne leading by 5 points to 4.
In The second half the small attendance was treated to more of the same and with ten minutes to go the sides were level at 8 points each. At this stage of the match the result could have gone either way and while both missed chances Skryne finished the stronger with a pointed free from the accurate boot of Mark Battersby and one from play from the speedy Paddy Fox had them two in front with time running out. The only goal of the game came in the last minute again from Batts after a good move involving Donie Ryan and Foxy down the right wing. Even then the Duleek/Bell men missed another opportunity to narrow the gap as they attacked well into injury time.
