On Friday 14th June 2019 at 8pm, Skryne GFC will hold an informal social evening in the RST Centre in Fr. McManus Park. The function of this evening is to unveil our new Presentation Cabinet dedicated to the memory of our former player Paddy O’Brien. Paddy needs no introduction as he was the only Meath player to be selected on the All-Ireland GAA team of the century.
This cabinet will hold club memorabilia from days gone by, cups, trophies, medals etc. which will showcase the history of the club and it’s players. Initially, most of Paddy O’Brien’s prizes and presentations will be ‘housed’ in this cabinet after they were donated to the club by Paddy’s family. His brother, Colm, will be home on holiday from America and will be present on the night to chat and reminisce with young and old alike. Paddy’s sons will also be in attendance.
The old plaques commemorating Packy Mooney, Brian Smyth, Tommy Mooney and Christy(Kit) Browne have been refurbished and re-positioned on the pitch side of the Clubhouse and we hope to have members of those families present for the evening also.
So come along for a cup of tea/coffee, sandwich or a cake and a chat with friends old and new. This is a great opportunity to meet present and former members of the club.
Recently the club held two fundraising Table Quiz’s, one in Swans and one in Foxs, with the proceeds going towards the cost of installing this secure Presentation Cabinet and now you are invited to see the results of these successful events and how your money was spent. So come along and enjoy what promises to be a great evening.
