Skryne 0-15 Seneschalstown 2-13
A League Division 1, Round 13
The last game of the A League Division 1 competition saw Seneschalstown come to Skryne in need of the points to retain their status and take both. Skryne started this game with their minor goalie Dean Reddy between the posts and introduced two more Daragh Campion and Oisin Gryson for their first taste of top level football. All three performed well and along with Cian Lynch, who is just out of the minor ranks, contributed much to this game. However sometimes in games like this, it is experience in getting a result which makes the biggest difference. The Sheridan brothers, particularly Damien at midfield and Joe at full forward, ran the show for the visitors. Damien fielded well at midfield and this laid the foundation for Joe to slot away two goals and a number of points. Skryne however battled well and saw them reduce an eight point difference to four in the last five minutes.
Skryne started the game well and led by three points to one after six minutes. However Seneschalstown then scored 1-03 without reply before Paddy O’ Rourke steadied the ship with a point. It was nip and tuck from there to the half time whistle which left the half time score at Skryne 0-08 Seneschalstown 1-06. Seneschalstown had the better of the exchanges for much of the second half particularly after Skryne lost Paddy Fox through injury. However Skryne showed their fighting spirit towards the end and will be pleased with the contribution of the minors who show great promise for the future.
