LGFA League Division 2 – Round 3

Skryne Ladies continued their strong start to their Division 2 League campaign with a 4-14 to 0-3 victory over neighbours Senechalstown.
From the outset Skryne asserted control, notching up three early points courtesy of Alannah Cooney, Laura Mangan (2), and Ellie Murphy. Senechalstown responded with a free to get on the scoreboard. As the first half progressed, Skryne’s momentum continued to build. Further points from Catriona Keoghan, Ellie Murphy, and Alannah Cooney stretched their lead, and by the 20-minute mark, they were already five points clear. With confidence flowing, Skryne’s breakthrough goal arrived through Elizabeth Moreland, pushing them ten points ahead.

Senechalstown struggled to break through Skryne’s well-organised defense of Niamh Cowley, Emer Clarke and Ailish Lenihan , and their frustration grew as Skryne continued to add to their tally. A superbly taken point by Ellie Murphy was followed by another major moment in the match when Annie Ryan found the net. A subsequent point by Catriona Keoghan left the Tara side ahead at half time with a score board of 2-11 to 0-1.

In the second half, Skryne stuck to the task and with the wind at their backs Senechalstown battled hard but just had too much to make up. During this spell Hannah Dardis was rock solid in goals for Skryne and the Skryne worked very hard on curbing the Senechalstown attack . Further Skryne points from Sarah Pentony, and goals from Ellie Murphy and Alannah Cooney increased their tally. Catriona Keoghan rounded off the scoring with a final point, sealing an emphatic 16-point victory. The performance consolidates Skryne’s strong start to the season and their hard work on the training pitch is paying off. Well done to team and management.

Skryne: Hannah Dardis, Ciara Cowley, Niamh Cowley, Emer Clarke, Kate Gibbons, Lizzie Moreland 1-0, Aisling O’Connor; Catriona Keoghan 0-2, Annie Ryan1-0, Alannah Cooney 1-2, Sarah Pentony 0-1, Fiona O’Rourke, Laura Mangan 0-2, Ellie Murphy 1-7 (4 frees).
