Drumbaragh 7 – 16
Skryne 1 – 6
Playing with a considerably depleted team against one of the favorites for this division was never going to be easy, but doing so for over 45 minutes with 14 men left Skryne with an impossible task. Due to a number of injuries to the senior side for the game against against Dunshaughlin on Saturday night, Skryne were forced to play this game without a number of the team which played against Bective. None-the less the game was still finely balanced with Drumbaragh 1- 3 to Skryne’s 0 – 4 when Skryne lost their center half back to a red card and in the process conceded a penalty which was duly slotted to the net. To add to their woes, Skryne had missed a penalty just before this incident, although the resultant 45 was pointed,. Drumbaragh went on to add a further four goals and five points before the break making the score at half time drumbaragh 6 – 8 to Skryne’s 0 – 4. Playing against a strong breeze in the second half wasn’t going to make the task any easier, but in fairness Skryne gave it all they had and were duly rewarded with a fine goal from Brian Smyth on 46 minutes. However Drumbaragh added a further 1 – 8 to run out very comfortable winners at 7 – 16 to 1 – 6.
