Skryne GFC will be participating in ‘Ireland Lights Up’ 2025. This initiative encourages GAA clubs across the 32 counties to illuminate and unite communities for safe walks/runs during dark winter evenings.

The event is scheduled for every Wednesday starting from this Wednesday January 8th for six weeks on our community walking track at our grounds in Skryne GFC.

Participants of all fitness levels are urged to join.

Our first event is set for Wednesday, January 8th, at 7:00 pm on our walking track. Participants should register at the RST before commencing your activity. There will be tea and coffee in the RST Centre after you complete your walk or run.

Our Grounds Committee have been busy this weekend salting the footpaths around the pitch to ensure they are frost and ice free!

Irish Life – ‘Every Step Counts Challenge’ 2025

In conjunction with ‘Ireland Lights Up,’ we’ve also enlisted for the ‘Irish Life – Every Step Counts Challenge’ 2025. Irish Life calls on clubs to collectively cover 4,000km over a five-week period (Jan 8th to Feb 12th). There’s a total of €30,000 in club funding up for grabs from Irish Life, and clubs reaching the target qualify for a draw with prizes like O’ Neill’s vouchers.

Participants are requested to download the ‘My Life’ App and follow these steps to record steps on smartphones/wearable trackers (Apple Watch, Fit-Bit, etc.).

Step 1. Download the ‘My Life’ App here: Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.irishlife.mylife

Apple: https://apps.apple.com/ie/app/mylife-by-irish-life/id1459620652

Step 2. After registering, go to Social > Challenges > Leinster GAA > Skryne GFC.
Step 3. (Optional) Connect your wearable tracker to the ‘My Life App.’ Fitness wearables are not mandatory; having your iOS/Android device in your pocket will record steps via the Health App.

*Note: The steps challenge is for those aged 18 and above, but everyone is welcome to join in the exercise.*

Spread the word to all – the more participation, the better!
