A game which was bookended by two superb goals from Ian Davis resulted in two more valuable points to Skryne in this A league Div 1 clash in McManus Park, Skryne on Sunday. Played in ideal conditions, if a little cold, the Skryne men showing some changes in both personnel and positions from their previous outing put in a workmanlike display to win by the minimum. Within thirty seconds of Paul Mooney’s throw in, the Skryne men had the ball in the net but with time running out they found themselves two points adrift and had to depend on the very last kick of the game which resulted in Davis’s second goal, to take the spoils. Davis also managed to tag on a further five points, all frees, to bring his total tally for the day to 2 – 5. Despite their brilliant start Skryne went to the dressing room two points adrift with Simonstown leading 1 – 7 to 1 – 5. Simonstown maintained this lead right to that final kick from Davis and must consider themselves a little unfortunate to concede a goal like that with time virtually up. However it was the Skryne dressing room which was the happier at the conclusion.
