Playing in goals for Skryne, Felim O’Rourke was called upon to save a penalty in the first half and then stepped up to score one in the second period. The game was marked by seven goals in total five for Skryne and two for the Kells men. Mark Jordan scored the first of the Skryne goals after good work by Neil Morley. However it was Kells who held the advantage for most of the game and went in at the break 1 – 6 to 1 – 4 ahead.
Kells resumed where they left off and looked to be on their way to collecting both points when they scored their second goal. They raced into a six point lead at one stage. However Skryne were in no mood to give in and led by Brian Smyth in the attack were making life very hard for the Kells backs. Skryne had numerous chances to find the net before Cian Lynch was unceremoniously brought down in the square for a penalty. O’Rourke made no mistake in his well taken shot which left only a point in the difference. The Tara men now had the bit between their teeth and drove for home. They were rewarded with three more goals from Neil Morley, Cian Lynch and John Morley. Kells did not give up on this game and posted a number of points, however these were countered by further points from Alan Carty, Kevin Reilly and Brian Smyth.
