Simonstown Gaels hang on to claim victory over battling Skryne

Skryne almost pulled off an escape reminiscent of Houdini when they came from 8 points down to reduce the deficit to only 2 points with less than five minutes remaining in yesterday’s Senior Championship Group C opening game against Simonstown Gaels in Pairc Tailteann. However a goal from Mark Gardiner thwarted their efforts and ultimately sealed their fate as Simonstown Gaels ran out winners by 1-14 to 0-11 in a game where Skryne were wasteful in front of goals accumulating 9 wides in comparison to 3 for Simonstown over the course of the game.
