Blackhall Gaels 3 – 6

Skryne 0 -11

Skryne were handed their first defeat of the season by Blackhall Gaels in this A league fixture played in Kilcloon. Kevin O’Reilly got the Skryne men of the mark in the second minute of the game followed immediatly by two points from Kilcloon before Ian Davis got the second for Skryne on eight minutes. However a fortuitous goal which came against the run of play put the Blackhall men four points to the good on 10 minutes. Skryne however rallied well and six points on the trot from Davis (3), Fox, O’Reilly and O’Rourke saw the Skryne men ahead by two points on 30 minites. However in time-added-on Blackhall scored their second goal to put them one point up at the break. Both teams traded points on the resumption and it wasn’t until the 60 minute that Blackhall broke the deadlock with a point followed immediatly by a goal directly from the kickout. The match did have a lot of broken play, not helped by the rough ground conditions, and the match official added a further ten minutes as a player from each side were injured. However despite adding a further three points to their tally the Skryne men were unable to overhaul the deficit.
