Walterstown 0 – 13
Skryne 0 – 9
Having drawn their championship encounter just over two weeks ago, these two very close rivals met once again in Ashbourne on Tuesday night for the semi-final of the Feis cup. Skryne, already with a long list of injuries, were forced to start without their captain Ian Davis with a reoccurrence of a ham string injury and also were without their influential fullback Martin Mulvany. Walterstown were first out of the blocks and ran up a five points to nil lead by the twelfth minute. At this stage they threatened to completely overrun Skryne but four points from Mark Battersby , three from frees, and one each from Paddy O’Rourke and Ronan McCabe sent the Skryne men in a point to the good at the break.
The Skryne men resumed the second half where they left off and within a minute Aidan Tuite had them two points ahead with a well taken point. This was countered on 37 minutes with a point for Walterstown but a minute later Tuite got his second for the night restoring a two point margin. This was as good as it got for Skryne because from then to the end, which included 5 minutes stoppage time, Skryne only scored one more point while Walterstown posted a further seven running out clear winners by a four point margin.
