Victory for our 3rd Team
Dunsany 1-07 Skryne 2-08
B League Division 4 – Round 6
Skryne made the short journey to our close neighbours Dunsany on Monday evening for this B League Div 4 clash. They came home with the points on a summers evening ideal for good football, but unfortunately the standard of play didn’t match the lovely fine weather. Skryne played much better last week against Simonstown and lost.
Both sides were guilty of some awful shooting and wayward passing and the low scoring in the first half bears this out as Skryne led at the break by 1-4 to 0-3.
Dunsany missed more scores than Skryne but their goal midway through the second half left just a point between the sides and made for an exciting finish to the match. The Blues rallied and a late goal from substitute Nicky Hamill put the icing on the cake after they had traded points with the home side for the last ten minutes. A couple of changes by the Skryne selectors at half time had the desired effect as they promised that the full compliment of subs would be used from our list of eight. Goalkeeper Adrian Doyle had done nothing wrong in the first half but his replacement Des McAvinney made three excellent saves in the second half including a penalty which ensured the points headed for Skryne.
Skryne – Adrian Doyle. Shane McEnroy, David Harrington, Paddy O’Leary. Martin Mulvaney (0-1), Mark Harrington, Pauric Murphy. David Lynch, Cian Lynch. Declan Mulvey, Allan Carty (1-2), Jamie Jordan (0-2). Des McAvinney, Brian Smyth, Niall Morley (0-2).
Subs used – Jack Conroy, Nicky Hamill (1-0), John Quinn (0-1), Kieran O’Rourke, Paul Bannon and Eddie Dunne.
