O’Mahonys too strong for Skryne
Skryne 0-08 Navan O’Mahonys 5-18
B League Division 2 – Round 7
Skryne’s somewhat depleted third team faced a strong Navan O’Mahony’s second team this evening in Skryne. The third team are without many of the players who helped them kick off their League campaign so well, but this division is strong and at this stage of the season Skryne are finding the going tough. There is no doubting the spirit in this team and they battled hard throughout. Father and son Johnny and Eoghan Quinn took to the pitch together, with Eoghan bagging one of his two points midway through the half. Tommy Carpenter added a second for Skryne with a fine finish from the right hand side. O’Mahonys produced a slick performance and had the game effectively wrapped up by half time when they lead by 3-07 to 0-02. All of the goals were of a high quality and stand in keeper Allan Carty could do little to prevent them.

O’Mahonys continued their relentless attacking in the second half clocking up an impressive 5-18 by the end of the game. Paul Bannon did force a fine save from the O’Mahony’s keeper early in the half but it took until the sixteenth minute of the half for Skryne to register their opening score of the half when Eoghan Quinn bagged his second point of the match. Seán Cassidy made a foray forward to plunder a fourth point for Skryne. Two late points from Felim O’Rourke capped a commendable battling display but O’Mahonys proved too strong for the boys in blue on the night.
