Final League Game of the Season
Skryne 3-09 Dunshaughlin 2-19
B League Division 1 – Round 9
Skryne and Dunshaughlin played their last League game of the Season on the last day of July with victory going to the Black and Amber brigade by seven points. Skryne, already safe in this division, were short a number of players for different reasons and fell behind from the start. Dunshaughlin for their part played one of their best games of the season and had the Skryne defence in trouble for most of the game. The Blues were pressured into mistake after mistake and were behind at the break by 1-11 to 0-6.

Skryne did begin the second half in a much more determined mood and a superb goal from Frank Carty and a point from Martin Mulvaney in the first few minutes had them back in the game. It was nip and tuck for a while after this and two more goals from Felim O’Rourke and Sean Cassidy had the difference down to three points at one stage. But Dunshaughlin tagged on scores of their own and when their second goal came with less than ten minutes to go the game fizzled out to the inevitable result. As well as the Skryne defence being under pressure their forwards missed a number of scoring chances also and in the end that was the difference between Winning and losing.
The plus factor was the return of Donie Ryan and Neal Burke from their sojourn down under and both played all of the second half of this match and will be available from now on.
