B League Division 1 – Round 3

Although St. Colmcilles began this match strongly and led by 3 points to a single Frank Carty point for Skryne after 16 minutes that was as good as it got for them. As soon as Felim O’Rourke’s long range shot into the area deceived the Cilles goalkeeper and ended up in the net the pressure was on the East Meath side. Soon after, about the 20 minute mark, another long range effort from James Hegarty also ended up in the net with the Colmcilles keeper apparently blinded by the strong sun and the points were heading for Skryne.
On a beautiful evening for football with little or no breeze Skryne had it easy from then on. Ian Davis added a third goal to cancel out the one St. Colmcilles scored in the 28th minute leaving the half time score at Skryne 3-05 St. Colmcilles 1-04.
