A League Promotion For Skryne
Skryne 4-10 St. Michaels 0-12
A League Division 2 – Round 13
Skryne gained promotion back to Div. 1 of the A League following this easy victory over St. Michaels in Skryne yesterday evening. In a top of the table clash the prize for the winners was promotion and a place in the League 2 decider.
With this in mind Skryne began the match in a very determined manner and soon had the Carlanstown club in trouble. The Blues led by 2-04 to no score after 14 minutes and by 3-08 to 0-03 at half time with the goals coming from Paddy Fox and two from Patrick O’Rourke.
In this half Skryne were on top in all sectors of the field and the game was as good as over at the break. The only downside was injures to the Lenehan brothers Niall and Ciaran, neither of whom appeared for the second half.

St. Michaels were a much improved outfit in that second period and outscored the winners by 0-09 to 1-02 as the Blues seemed to lose the impetus they had earlier in the game.
As stated, Skryne were completely on top in the first half with every player getting the better of their direct opponent. Eoghan Greene, Darragh Campion an Declan Morley were outstanding, breaking up any attack that the Michaels could muster. Aidan Tuite and Ciaran Lenehan ruled the roost at midfield while all six forwards got on the scoresheet which paved the way for a win which puts them back where they deserve to be – in the top flight of the League.
