With temperatures down to freezing point and a strong wind chill factor this was not a night for those who like their comfort to be standing around watching a match. None-the-less Skryne hosted the Division 1 B league clash with Donaghmore/ Ashbourne on Tuesday night under lights which was watched by just a couple of hardy souls from either club. The East Meath men got the perfect start when, after two minutes, poor defending from Skryne allowed them a free shot at goal which they didn’t pass up. Three minutes later they added a point to this. Skryne hit back with two points from Anal Carty on the seventh and tenth minute. However five more points against a further two from Carty and O’Sullivan left the half time score at Skryne 0 – 4, Don/Ash 1 – 6.
Skryne upped the tempo considerably and three points from Donie Ryan and Conor Keogh (2) left just two points between the teams with thirty seven minutes gone. However they only managed one further point for the remainder of the game while Don/ Ash posted a further four to leave the final score at Skryne 0 – 8, Don/Ash 1 – 10.
