The Skryne Under 16 boys played St Colmcilles in the final of the U16 Div1 Summer League in Pairc Tailteann on Tuesday 19th August.
This was the 2nd time that these two teams met in a final in Pairc Tailteann, with last one being under 14 which Cilles won. So this was going to be a big game for Skryne. Skryne started the better of the two sides with Paddy Carpenter scoring 3 goals in the first half, Jason reddy, Eoin Smyth and Darren Fox also added to the scores before half time. Half time scores were 3-4 to 0-5. The second half started well for Colmcilles, but with Fiachra Finnegan in goals with great support from Dean Reddy, the strong Skryne back line withheld the pressure. Paddy Carpenter and Jason Reddy put a lead of 6 points between the teams again. Luke Thorpe also put over a nice point in the closing stages. It was a great game to watch and it was well and truly a great team effort from all the Skryne lads who all played their part to secure their second competition of the year, having previously brought home the silverware for the Spring League.
