What must go down as the weakest display from Skryne in the current year saw Duleek Bellewstown secure the points in the A League Div 1 at Skryne on Wednesday evening. Skryne were first on the board with a point from Paddy Fox after three minutes. Then on eight minutes Duleek Bellewstown lost the ball in a promising attack and it was worked down the wing to Brian Davis who gave the perfect pass across the goals to Ciaran Lenehan who found the back of the net. Mark Battersby added a point on fifteen minutes but didn’t score again until just before the break well into injury time. In the meantime Duleek Bellewstown posted six unanswered points between the nineteenth and twenty ninth.
Ian Davis and Ciaran Lenehan put over two more to give Skryne a two point advantage with three minutes of the second period played. D/B then got the first of their three goals on thirty four minutes, but Ciaran Lenehan steadied the ship when he levelled matters a minute later to leave the score at 1 – 6 apiece. However from there to the end it was a sublime performance from the visitors who posted 2 – 5 against a reply of just two points from two of last year’s minors, Conor O’Brien and Harry Rooney. In this last third of the game Duleek Bellewstown kept up a continuous barrage of running and scoring against which the home side had no answer.
