Skryne 2 – 6, Dunboyne 1 – 9
Skryne and Dunboyne finished all square in the B league Division 1 tie played in Dunboyne on Monday evening. Dunboyne dominated the opening exchange and ran up a 6 point to nil lead by the 25th minute before Skryne corner back, who had followed his marker up the field, found himself of the end of a movement and slotted the ball over for Skryne’s opener. Then, just before the break Neil Burke posted a second to make the half time score Skryne 0 – 2 Dunboyne 0 – 6.
The second half was only minutes old when Skryne full forward Brian Smith was brought down in the square for what looked like a penalty. But as the loose ball bobbled across towards him Brian didn’t wait for the official to blow but belted the bobbling ball to the back of the net. This left only one point in it but Dunboyne posted two quick points to leave just a goal between them again. Conor Keogh tied up the scores when he finished another loose ball to the Dunboyne net. Sean Cassidy was brought down and popped over the resultant free to give the lead to Skryne with 43 minutes on the clock. Brian Davis put them two ahead but Dunboyne pulled one back on 51 minutes. David Ryan extended Skryne’s lead but on 54 minutes Dunboyne fired home a goal to give them a one point advantage. Cian Byrne pointed a 45 for Skryne which brought them level again with 5 minutes left to play. Both sides had a number of chances to tie up the game but with tiredness now being a factor accuracy suffered and the game finished with a share of the spoils each.
