Drumconrath have edge over Skryne in B League Div 5.
Skryne displayed all the attributes which make household names in this Division 5 B League in Drunconrath on Wednesday evening. Short a full team from the beginning and with no subs to introduce for a number of injuries they could have snatched the points at the end. However it was not to be and Drumconrath took both points. Drumconrath ran up an early lead and were 6 points to one ahead by the 12th minute. Niall Morley pulled one back and then on 17 minutes Conor Keogh scored the first of Skryne’s goals to leave just a point in it. Brian Smith levelled matters and Morley struck again to put Skryne ahead. The North Meath side levelled matters on 22 minutes before Keogh put Skryne ahead again with 5 minutes of the half left to play. Points were traded again with Morley scoring just before the break to leave the half time score at 1 – 6 to 0 – 8 points.
The second half was just seconds old when Brian Smith put Skryne further ahead but this was their only score until the 47th minute. Meanwhile Drumconrath scored 8 points consecutively going 16 points to 1 – 7 ahead. Paul McGoldrick picked up an injury and was moved from midfield to corner forward. When a nice cross from Conor Keogh reached him he promptly fisted it to the net to leave the scores at Skryne 2 – 7 Drumconrath 0 -16. Sean Cassidy and Conor Keogh reduced the deficit by the 53rd minute. Both sides had chances to kill off the game but tiredness was now a huge factor for the Skryne men who had no replacements while Drumconrath were able to introduce a number of replacements. The last score of the game came to the North Meath side in the second minute of injury time to leave the final score at Skryne 2 – 9, Drumconrath 0 – 17. Avery credible performance from the Tara men given the difficulties they were under.
