It’s a big weekend ahead for underage football in Skryne. For the first time in the history of the club, the Skryne boys team has qualified to represent Co. Meath in the Féile Peile na nÓg games, which this year are held in Laois/Offaly.
You will have noticed signs and flags/bunting up to mark the event. Please dust down your Skryne and Meath flags and fly them high to mark this event. The boys and their mentors have put in a lot of time and effort to reach this level of success, with great support from the parents.
The games take place over three days, starting on Friday with Round 1 followed by a parade in Portlaoise. Most of our games will take place on Saturday at the grounds of our host club Shamrocks, who are based in Mucklagh, near Tullamore. The other teams in our group are Shamrocks (Offaly), St. Eunans (Donagal) and Ballinamere/Durrow (Offaly).
The Féile is sure to be a very enjoyable experience for all involved. The boys will be put up by host families for the weekend, and there will be social as well as sporting events over the three days.
Full details of the Féile can be found on the official website at http://feilelaoisoffaly2012.com/
Best Wishes to the boys for an enjoyable and successful experience next weekend, from all in Skryne GFC.
