Skryne Continue their winning ways
Gaeil Colmcille 2-10 Skryne 0-21
B League Division 1 – Round 3
Skryne played with the benefit of a fairly strong wind in the first half and immediately set about making sure they used it to their advantage before the break. Early scores from Felim O’Rourke, Jason Fox and one from Kevin O’Reilly gave them a lead they never relinquished. The point-taking in this half was of excellent quality with scorer in chief ‘Rourkey’ helping himself to seven points. This very good team effort ensured that the Blues had a half time lead of six points – 0-15 to 1-6.

Overall Skryne were on top in every section of the field starting with Des McAvinney who made some excellent saves in goals. In front of him all six defenders played their part and it would be unfair to single out any one of them. Likewise the midfielders and forwards all won their individual battles and seven different players got on the scoresheet.
When a team scores 21 points it suggests the result was never in doubt and that was the case in this match even though the Gaels kept themselves in the game with a goal in each half. But the Kells men never looked like they could trouble a confident Skryne team.
So it’s onwards and upwards for this group of Skryne players who can keep the momentum of the club going in the right direction.
