Thursday evening saw the Skryne B team win the Reserve Shield semi final in a pulsating game in Bellewstown. The final score would not have been envisaged at half time when Duleek/Bellewstown lead by 1-7 to 0-3. Skryne could have had 2 goals in the first half but things just weren’t working out for the lads.
In the second half Skryne upped the pace of the game. Duleek struggled to stop the runs of Colm Doherty and Llyod Carolan to step up the scores that Skryne needed. All over the field the Skryne players were first to the ball. When Skryne leveled in the second half Duleek answered with a goal and one wondered did Skryne have the heart to come back again. With tremendous team effort they got level again only for Duleek to tag on a point. With the sids level again and less than 10 minutes to go, the Skryne lads attacked again with a vital goal from David Hawes. Duleek answered with a point and the game was going down to the wire. Skryne got the scores in the last few minutes to win the game. Both sides are to be commended for an excellent game of football.
