Hard luck to the minors this evening in the First Rnd of Div 2 Christy Ring Championship. With a panel of 23 Players from U15’s up to Minors the Skryne lads headed for Athboy with a revised time of 6-45pm throw in.
Football conditions were ideal. Skryne in the first half found it hard to find there rhythm. The Clann Na nGael defence was very strong and Skryne found it hard to break the defence line.
Clann Na nGael also struggled at times to score and maybe felt things were not going their way either. Skryne tried everything and it wasnt happening. By half time most teams would have been looking for the dressing rooms with a half time score of

Not ideal but Skryne regrouped and had a strong team chat with Des Finnerty at the helm and Ciaran Finnerty and Seamus Clarke also adding there encouragement.
Skryne got stuck in from the word go and were not going home without a fight. A quick goal by Skryne got the tails back up. As time went on things were starting to happen. Skryne nipped away at the score and kept the score board ticking over. With some great defensive work by Skryne it lifted all the players.
Skryne had some great play and moved the ball alot quicker. Goals and points were coming and unfortunately so was the final whistle. Skryne had lost out by a single point. It was nail biting for the second half and the positives are that the lads have a team that is well capable of going the whole way. You just cant win games in a half an hour.
Skryne now await their next opponents and have one more chance to keep there Championship hopes alive.
