High Scoring Game In Skryne – Felim In Form!
Skryne 4-19 Dunderry 6-10
B League Division 3 – Round 7
If your team scores six goals and ten points you expect to win the game and nine times out of ten your team would WIN. Not this game.
In excellent conditions for football with no breeze to contend with these two teams simply forgot about defending as the score suggests in this B League Div 3 match in Skryne.
To say it was a high scoring game is an understatement as both sides went on attack after attack and Felim O’Rourke turned back the clock to give an exhibition of scoring which propelled Skryne to victory.
Felim scored 1-4 in the last five minutes to finally end the Dunderry resistance who almost snatched victory themselves scoring five goals in a pulsating second half. Felim ended up with a personal tally of 3-8 for the Blues and two more of the old brigade Martin Mulvaney and Brian Smyth chipped in with five points between them. Gordon Geraghty was solid as usual but it was the younger players who provided the pace and enough quality ball for the older lads to shine. Sean Cassidy, David Carroll, Sean Byrne, Keith Donoghue and Colm McLoughlin all stepped up to the plate while Darren Fox unluckily had to retire injured at half time. Ciaran Finnerty chipped in with two good points before he too had to call it a day with hamstring trouble.

The first half was played at a frantic pace and the sides were evenly matched with the halftime score at Skryne 2-8 Dunderry 1-7.
Skryne began the second half playing into the Road end goals and scored five points without reply to seemingly have the game wrapped up after ten minutes when now leading by nine points. But it was far from over as Dunderry stormed back scoring two goals and a point in as many minutes to bring Skryne back down to earth and only two points between the sides. A point each from O’Rourke and substitute Declan Mulvey, who did well when introduced, followed by a goal from the boot of Seanie Cassidy seemed to put Skryne back on track only for Dunderry to score two more goals and open up the game once again.
Enter Felim to finally seal the deserved win for Skryne. Dunderry may feel hard done by not to get something from a game in which they scored six goals and could have had more but for some fine saves from young Skryne goalkeeper James Keane who could not be faulted in this match of attacking football from both sides. Jack Conroy, Kieran O’Rourke and Kevin O’Reilly plus the other second half substitutes John Quinn and Paul McGoldrick did the club proud in this team effort which keeps our third team in contention in their League with just one defeat and six wins from seven outings.
This exciting end to end match finished with Skryne three points clear – 4-19 to 6-10.
