Skryne Defeat Walterstown
Walterstown 0-09, Skryne 0-11
A League Division 2 – Round 12
Skryne kept up their quest for promotion with a win over Walterstown in this A League Div 2 match played in sunny Walterstown today Sunday. As is normal in this local ‘Derby’ between the Blues and the Blacks the fare provided was close and uncompromising which produced good entertainment for reasonable crowd present.
With little or no breeze to contend with Skryne started brightly playing into the ‘Road’ goals and went into a 3 points to 1 lead after ten minutes. Bryan Davis, Jason Fox and Niall Morley accounting for these scores but Walterstown improved to grab some lovely points of their own to lead by one as half time approached. Both sides missed a few chances and as stated already every score was vital in such a close game and it was Skryne who came from behind to draw level at half time 0-6 each.

The second half followed the same pattern but Walterstown must be kicking themselves after shooting five consecutive wides from favourable positions in the early stages of this period. This seemed to encourage the Blues and further points from Davis again, Ciaran Lenehan and Paddy Fox had them four points clear only for the Blacks to rally again to close the gap to two.
The key to this success for Skryne was the performance of their defence in which Timmy Lennon, Dermot Brennan and Mark Harrington excelled.
