Daylight Robbery in Dunshaughlin

Dunshaughlin 2-16 Skryne 4-11

Reserve B League – Round 2

This (3rd teams) B League match played in beautiful sunshine in Dunshaughlin  this Sunday morning was a high scoring entertaining match in which a draw would have been much fairer result. The fact that Skryne won it with an injury time goal from midfielder Michael Doherty suggested it was daylight robbery as there was no time for Dunshaughlin to reply with the referee blowing full time on the kick out.

Even though Skryne started brightly and were 1-2 to 0-0 ahead after five minutes Dunshaughlin settled and from then on were the better team. They always looked the more likely winners with young guns Adam Kealy and Cian Gallogley to the fore along with the experienced Ciaran Hoary. They were four points clear half way through the second half and were still two clear well into injury time before the Blues late winner.
At the end of the first half just like the second Skryne depended on a late late goal from Paul McGoldrick to level up the scores 2-6 each at the break.

Both teams fielded mostly young players with a few older experienced men thrown which made this an excellent spectacle played in the right spirit and this is the reason the competition was introduced in the first place.

Skryne – Des McAvinney. Shane McEnroy, David Harrington, Pauric Murphy. James Conroy, Paddy Carpenter (1-1), Barry Clarke (0-2). Michael Doherty (1-1), Darren Fox (0-1). Sean Cassidy (0-2). Brian Smyth (0-2), Declan Mulvey (0-1). Ross McGovern (1-0), Paul McGoldrick (1-1).

Subs. – Nicky Hamill, Ciaran O’Rourke, John Quinn and Colm Booth.
