Skryne took part in the All Ireland Seven aside competition held by the Kilmacud Crokes club on Saturday 17 September. They were unlucky to be drawn in the same group as the eventual winners Bryansford from Co Down who have done well in this competition on previous occasions. They were well beaten in the opening match by the Down outfit but gained considerable experience for the other two matches which they won 4 – 5 to 1 – 3 against Kilkerrin-Clonberne (Galway) and 4 – 8 to 5 – 3 against Naomh Olaf (Dublin). The team was – Martin Mulvany, Kevin Mulvany, Patrick O’ Rourke, Ronan McCabe, James Hegarty, Mark Battersby, Aidan Tuite, Alan Carty, and Brian Byrne. Good support was shown for the team by the club. A number of other players, mentors and members of the committee travelled to the event. This was a very enjoyable tournament and no doubt Skryne will play in it again and give an even better account with the experience gained from this years event.
