Our friends at Dunshaughlin GAA Club will launch their history of GAA in the parish on Saturday 10th October at the Black Bush Golf club. The event begins at 7.30 p.m. and GAA President Aogán Ó Fearghail will officially launch the book.
The book, Black and Amber: A History of the GAA in the Parish of Dunshaughlin 1886-2014, covers the GAA in the parish since 1886 and runs to 700 pages with twenty-two chapters and seventeen appendices. There are over 500 pictures/illustrations, most in colour. The book contains details not just on Dunshaughlin but on Royal Gaels, Drumree and St. Martins also while there are sections on Dunshaughlin Handball Club, camogie, club officers down the years, team line outs for county semi-finals and finals for all clubs in the parish and extensive records of Gaelic games in the parish schools, St. Seachnall’s NS, Culmullen NS, Gaelscoil na Rithe and Dunshaughlin Community College. The authors who compiled the original Black and Amber in 1984, Jim Gilligan and Patsy McLaughlin, have authored the new edition also.
